EXCLUSIVE: CRTC Responded to my complaint re: Global BC TV's news report about February 20, 2021 Vancouver Freedom Rally

Folks, I frankly didn't expect to hear back from the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council after I submitted a formal complaint to them.  The complaint concerned the treatment that I and other demonstrators received at the hands of the Global TV "journalists" in their TV coverage of our February 20, 2021 "freedom rally" that took place at the downtown Vancouver Art Gallery.  But, here's the e-mail I received just this afternoon.  Please read and I will have more comments to follow:

"Dear [greencrow],

The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council (CBSC) has received your message about a report about a Freedom Rally on Global News broadcast on CHAN-DT (Global Vancouver) on February 20, 2021.

The first step in the CBSC’s complaints-resolution process is to ask the broadcaster to respond to you. So, by copy of this message, we are asking the station to respond to your concerns within the next 31 days. We are also asking them to conserve a copy of the official logger file of the broadcast(s) in question. Most complaints are resolved through this dialogue between the complainant and broadcaster, so we hope that the response you will receive from the station addresses your concerns in a satisfactory manner.

The second step occurs after you have received the broadcaster's response. If, once you have considered it, you do not find that response satisfactory, you can request a ruling from the CBSC. This can be done within 14 calendar days of receiving the broadcaster’s response by filling out the form on the CBSC’s website, at http://www.cbsc.ca/ruling-request-form/.

If you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

[name]

Greencrow says:  lol.  David vs Goliath.  That's how I feel at this moment!  I am sure the Global "reporter" and cameraman are now reflecting on their stage-managed "report" on our rally...and perhaps wish they'd been a tad more professional!  Even if the complaint goes nowhere...the Global news staff are going to have to do a fair bit of running around...saving the broadcast tape and also the FULL tape of what I actually said--which was totally muted in the final TV news broadcast.

I'm going to post this on the Librti website where the other Vancouver activists like Odessa, Norbert and the others live.  I'm going to ask them if they want to provide me with a paragraph or two of their own assessments of the Global conduct at the Rally.  If they do, then I'll include that in my follow-up submission when I respond to Global's defense.  Stay tuned.
