Greencrow Status Update

Crow on a Crutch

Good morning everyone.  Just a brief note to let you know why I have not been posting as frequently as in the past.  Since last summer I have been dealing with ever worsening arthritis in both knees.  It is very painful and I cannot sit for long periods.  It has affected both my blogging and my wood carving although I am very motivated to create the cane depicted above.

I've tried all kinds of remedies and, although several have worked briefly, none has worked more than a day or so.  I have an appointment with a rheumatologist but she's so busy it will be 10 weeks before I get to see her.  In the meantime, I'm living on painkillers....and trying to adjust my diet to eliminate all the many foods that exacerbate arthritis....such as sugar, salt and acidic foods like tomatoes and oranges...who knew that oranges could be harmful to the health!?

The "good news" is that having such chronic pain has given me a lot more empathy for others who have to deal with arthritis and other such ailments.  While previously, I would walk through a mall or a park or some other place where people gather and be oblivious to people hobbling around in pain...now I see them everywhere!  I had no idea that so many people lived with pain on a daily basis.

The other good news is that I'm becoming an expert on how to mitigate the pain and, with constant adjustments to my daily regime, I'm slowly gaining control over this very common side effect of longevity.  As I do, I will return to the avocations that I love...blogging and carving.

I am in the same boat... I am still suffering from periodic neck and shoulder pain that has been debilitating at times... And with it being in my left shoulder and all the way down to the elbow area, it has caused me to have pain when I sit down and type.... And worse it is excruciating at times because I am left handed...

I know what you are going through and I am too hoping that you get a speedy recovery...

Try acupuncture
My mom had severe arthritis
I told her to try it years ago
She still is going, just today my dad went for something????
I recommend for Northern also
Drink water
No coke beer coffee tea blah blah
Just water
Now my back story
No drugs
No doctor
My story of survival
I have thrown my back a few times
Very hard to walk or do things
I do not complain or try anything
When get out of car you walk funny like something stuck up the hole
A jokester would say
How does it feel
But anyway
I just act like nothing wrong and it goes away in 3 or 4 days
It is like a headache
It comes and goes
Take nothing for it
Yes
It can be done
My brothers worker helper just threw out his back
So I was gonna compare notes
He was working on his car
I said I keep acting like nothing wrong and keep going
He was
My brother made him take the day off
But he was like me
Walking funny like he had a great night with a buddy or in awkward pain
The only difference with his back pain
He could not move his arm very well
My mom recommend he go see the acupuncture people
I ask him
Did it work???
He says

I could barely use my arm but today it is better
I say
Hmmmm sounds like it worked????
He was back to work the next day
Will it work for everyone???
Who knows
It is an answer
Just google acupuncture and your problem and see what it says
You could try smoking weed
Heyyyyyyyyyyyyy Greeeeeeeeeeeencrowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Wanna get highhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh??????

Anon. I tried acupuncture and it worked the first time but not thereafter. Same as all the other remedies. Greg. I'm going to ask the rheumatologist for shots in the knees. NTS. Do you think this is a conspiracy? Something in the air that gives Truthers such pain that they can't write anymore? lol : 0

It could be called karmic justice
I have been through a lot
But reading about Northern and now you
Very very very very SAD
Try prayer

To NTS, GC and everyone concerned:

GC...my late mother dealt with chronic arthritis and had to have both knees injected with shots because she would not have them replaced. The shots are cortisone which damages the liver over time. However for pain relief she had no other options and it did help until the cortisone wore off. (Something I would never recommend). So I know the pain you are experiencing and understand that any way of lowering your stress helps. I want to share this info in case it is of help: (highly recommend)

Also it is a matter of many different changes...diet, stretching, massage, physical therapy, spiritual...not just one antidote but a cross of what your body needs.

Get well and be well everyone...our stress of the horrible realities going on around us is difficult to process so breaking away...time out...or whatever we need to do to take care of ourselves is #1.

PS...

Also swimming and walking/exercising in a pool is the best exercise for arthritis as the cool water keeps the swelling down and stops the gravitational pull. For me it is the best whether arthritic or not as full range of movement is easier without stressing muscles.

Never thought I'd envy an elderly person walking. Have severe hip arthritis that has drastically altered my life recently. Yes, now I notice elderly with canes... and recall my mother's suffering. Sad that I can't race with my granddaughter anymore.

Of course, specific strains of cannabis can help alleviate the pain.

This was just the first hit from a duckduckgo search for "cannabis arthritis treatment"

https://www.drrachnapatel.com/medical-marijuana-for-arthritis/

There are many others.

So true! Thanks for the links and tips. Swimming is great for arthritis as I have already experienced the benefits.

More information. Hyaluronic acid is what’s missing from your knee joints.Soon it will be bone on bone.In the states its 3000$ a injection ,takes 3 to work, but your doctor.will push you twords Cortisone which eats away at the bone.Ozone treatment is not used in Allopathic.Only Nathopathic.Bamboo extract is a silicate that helps all joints Turmeric an Black pepper is a pain reliever.Swanson has the cheapest of both. You will have to pay for the Ozone, because of the war on natural health! As for Cannabis, the oil C.B.D. at 79% will help when rubbed on .but it doesn’t last long! Good Luck Greg

Hi Greg:

Thanks for the tips. I will discussion the options you suggest with my rheumatologist in 10 weeks when I finally see her!

Hey GC:

That sounds awful- Tumeric is really good for inflammation as is ginger
The CBD oil is supposed to work wonders for chronic arthritis.
Have you tried any physiotherapy? I've had some good results on my scar tissue riddled right knee with something called Shock Wave Therapy

https://www.shockwavetherapy.eu/

It did help. but it's rather unpleasant and multiple treatments are required but I'm a couple of years past the treatment and my knee is not all locked up

Hi Penny:

Thanks for the tips. I am using Turmeric and have tried just about every remedy available to mitigate the symptoms. I will look into Shock Wave Therapy. It's frustrating that both of my favourite activities, blogging and carving...require me to sit, legs virtually immobile, for long periods : 0
