Is It Over Yet? Olympic Roundup

The Cypress Mountain ski competitions FUBAR continues apace. I don't think many Vancouverites even knew some events were going to take place at this low elevation venue. If we had, we certainly would have spoken out about the risk involved. They trucked in hundreds of thousands of tons of snow from Manning Park in the Interior.... and then it melted in torrential rain. What's left is threatened by a weather forecast for the next few days predicting hotter than normal weather.

So far, the temperatures have been the hottest in 120 years of record keeping. HAARP! Who goes there? So many years to prepare for contingencies and to avoid obvious risk factors and so little to show for it. On a positive note, the television coverage of the actual sporting events is good. The young people and children seem very caught up in the excitement and hey, isn't that what it's all about? Too bad the pinstripe suits in the halls of power don't see it that way.

We're planning to take the Skytrain downtown on the weekend and have a look/see. I'll take some photos with my Blackberry and see if I can upload a few. Got to get into some of the bells and whistles to spice up this Blog. : )

Junior Minister takes Giant Leap

The Globe and Mail is saying that the Junior Minister for Foreign Affairs, former CBC talking head Peter Kent has said that "an attack on Israel is an attack on Canada".

Only if you soldier up, grab a musket and run to the front line, Peter.

Get this straight. You do NOT speak for me. You will not be spilling the blood of my family or my fellow Canadians on Ziofascist wars.

So far as I'm concerned....an attack on Israel would be the final act of desperation from an increasingly frustrated world community.

9/11 Goes Mainstream....Almost

There's an article on the globalresearch.ca website that says the mainstream media has developed a new approach to 9/11 over the past year. The new approach is that they don't automatically laugh the "tinfoil hatters" out of the building anymore...it's more like they're trying the softer approach...the Gandhi approach:

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you and then you win."

They haven't started to "fight" us yet--that WILL come, but first they're pretending to "reason" with us. Apparently, the mainstream media in five or six countries, including Canada, have adopted this kinder, gentler methodology in lockstep. As the Truthers would say..."What a coinkydynk!"

I saw the CBC Fifth Estate show on 9/11 Conspiracy Theories recently and it was as full of dysinformation as a block of Swiss Cheese is full of holes. However, the fact that it even presented some of the Truth about 9/11 was a breakthrough.

My opinion of this so-called "breakthrough" is they want to educate the sheeple just enough so that they know the basic arguments of the Truthers. The better to damn the Truthers later by association with some negativity or scandals or mole troublemakers.

If the media power brokers were truly serious about giving justice to the 9/11 victims and their families....not to mention all the hundreds of thousands of men women and children who have been killed and maimed in Iraq and Afghanistan, they would demand the arrest of the well known perps and allow the so-called "justice system" to take it's course.

I'm one of those who says enough of investigations. All the thinking people--who have done their due diligence and have come to the Truth Movement--are already here. Those who have not come have done so by choice. They choose to ignore hard evidence and compelling witnesses. Why? Because it rocks their world.

You know the old movie line: "You want the truth? You can't handle the truth!"

Sheeple can't handle the truth...even when their noses are rubbed in it. They actually get very angry and stomp their feet when forced to admit some of the anomalies of the official story or look closely at some of the evidence--as if we mean old Truthers are trying to ruin their day!

What will ultimately happen to the Truth Movement? Well, the Official Storytellers seemed to have faced the fact we're not going away--and we're not going to be silenced. I lean towards them pulling a "Samson Option" caper. According to neoCon lore, choosing the Samson Option means bringing the whole house (the United States and its allies) down.... rather than accepting defeat.....just like Samson brought the temple down in the Old Testament.

Even the threat of doing this will maintain the status quo.

The Local Olympics

Everyone woke up with a sigh of relief today. No Rain. The air was even a little bit "crisp". Of course, the crocii are also in full bloom and the daffodiles not far behind.

Ahhhhh...winter on the wet coast.

People at work seemed satisfied with the Olympics so far. Everyone thought the Opening Ceremonies were stunning. Who would have thunk the big cheezers would have nailed the Canadian ethos so well?

Grumblings were heard about the Cypress fiasco and the chain link Olympic flame.

Vancouverites have hunkered down for the long haul....a full two weeks before we get our city back.

Olympic Roundup

Today the rain subsided and the clouds parted to show the sun for the first time during the Olympics. As if on cue, Canada won its first gold ever (men's moguls) while hosting an Olympics. At least THAT jinx is ended.

There are some serious complaints about the venus...notably Cypress Bowl, located on the top of Cypress Mountain on the North Shore of Vancouver. Frankly I was shocked when I heard they were going to use Cypress Bowl for some events. The last time I went up there was with family in the winter of 2003. It rained and the snow washed away under our feet. It's simply too low an elevation for serious winter sports.

We knew they had to truck in the snow from Manning Park to build the mogul run but we didn't know how woefully unprepared they were to care for the thousands of spectators who had paid good money to attend the event. There was no food and no shelter from the lashing rain and wind...this was during the torrential downpour I wrote about in my last entry.

Needless to say, there were a lot of unhappy campers in Vancouver this morning, complaining to the media. Some other complaints revolve around the outdoors Olympic flame which is surrounded by a chain link fence. Tourists cannot get a photo of it that excludes the "gulag look". The fence is supposed to be modified tomorrow.

Oh, and three individuals were charged with the vandalism of yesterday when a mob of about 200 charged down the mainstreet of Vancouver, breaking windows and throwing trash bins. The ring leader is from Washington State and his last name is Mayer.

We watched the TV round-up this evening. The short pairs skating was some of the best performances I've ever seen in that sport. The Chinese and Germans seem to have a lock on those medals.

Vancouverite spirits were picking up towards the end of the day...it's amazing what a bit of sunlight will do.

Don Henley's View of Empire

When Wing Commander Russell Williams aka Russ Sovka was arrested a week ago today, (see my post below) I thought of the words to this song by Don Henley of The Eagles:

""Long Road Out Of Eden"

Moon shining down through the palms
Shadows moving on the sand
Somebody whispering the twenty-third psalm
Dusty rifle in his trembling hands

Somebody trying just to stay alive
He got promises to keep
Over the ocean in america
Far away and fast asleep

Silent stars blinking in the blackness of an endless sky
Cold silver satellites, ghostly caravans passing by
Galaxies unfolding, new worlds being born
Pilgrims and prodigals creeping toward the dawn
But it's a long road out of eden

Music blasting from an suv
On a bright and sunny day
Rolling down the interstate
In the good ol' usa

Having lunch at the petroleum club
Smokin' fine cigars and swappin' lives
He said: "gimme 'nother slice o' that barbecued brisket!"
"gimme 'nother piece o' that pecan pie!"

Freeways flickering, cell phones chiming a tune
We're riding to utopia, road map says we'll be arriving soon
Captains of the old order clinging to the reins
Assuring us these aches inside are only growing pains
But it's a long road out of eden

Back home i was so certain
The path was very clear
But now i have to wonder: "what are we doing here?"
I'm not counting on tomorrow
And i can't tell wrong from right
But i'd give anything to be there in your arms tonight

Weaving down the american highway
Through the litter and the wreckage and the cultural junk
Bloated with entitlement, loaded on propaganda
And now we're driving dazed and drunk

Been down the road to damascus,
The road to mandalay
Met the ghost of caesar on the appian way
He said, "it's hard to stop this bingeing, once you get a taste."
"but the road to empire is a bloody stupid waste."

Behold the bitten apple - the power of the tools
But all the knowledge in the world is of no use to fools
And it's a long road out of eden...."

Russell Williams: The Broken Wing Commander

Col. Russell Williams....Canadian military commander--and multiple murderer

UPDATE:  March 13, 2014...there is a story on the CBC website about a Psychiatrist who interviewed Williams.  The psychiatrist says something happened to him ("out of the public domain") that led to the murders.  I have always wondered if something happened to him either when he was a child (sexual abuse) or (more likely) when he was at "Camp Mirage".  If it happened to him when he was in the army...isn't the military responsible for the effects?

By now, most people have heard about Russell Williams, aka Russ Sovka, the commander of Trenton, Ontario, the largest military base in Canada who was arrested a week ago today for murder of two women and rape of two more.

This is a bizarre case, to say the least. But one of the most disturbing aspects of it was the almost total blackout of news about Russell Williams early life, his upbringing and his family. It's incredible to think such a prominent soldier in the Canadian Military would have an official biography (on the Canadian Armed Forces Website) that did not have any information on him prior to 1987 when he joined the forces. All the military spokespersons could say about him after his arrest was that he was a "rising star" and that they were totally blindsided by him being charged with such serious crimes.

The news immediately brought to my mind Kay Greig and her story a decade or so ago about corruption in the high levels of the US Military. Kay said she learned from her then husband (a general in the US Military) how drunkenness, rape, all kinds of sexual perversion, violence and assassinations were "the norm" at the highest echelons of military power. Kay was not afraid to name names and I recommend you read her story and watch her video interviews to make up your own mind about her truthfulness. Ironically, Kay uses the same expression "rising star(s)" to describe those involved in the corruption.

In the days that have followed Russell Williams' arrest, reporters have managed to flesh out some details about his past...and disturbing details they are. None more so than the fact that for a time in the past few years, he headed up a mysterious Canadian forward army base in Bahrain. Why would Canada need an army base in the Middle East? It would make our forefathers spin in their graves to know Canada has sunk so far down the fatal path to Imperialism.

What goes on at "Camp Mirage" as it is called? Is it a school to train or brainwash soldiers to do unspeakable things? Don't think we'll find out the answer to that one soon.

In the meantime, Russell Williams sits solitary in his jail cell....likely asking himself questions about how he got there. Perhaps he's wondering if, as Bee Gee Barry Gibb asks in his song "Alone":

"Am I the subject of the pain, ....or the stranger in the rain?"

Saint John Furlong of Canada

John Furlong is the head of VANOC, Canada's Olympic Committee. Since the very beginning of Vancouver's bid, John has been spearheading the Canadian effort to get the games.

These days he's looking very stressed. One Murphy's Law after another is being broken with these games. Old Crow was telling me about some of them the other day. It hasn't stopped.

Yesterday, Saturday the 13th of February, 2010 it rained incessantly all day. It's raining tonight as I type. In Vancouver we know rain. Years ago the Inuit of the North had hundreds of names for different kinds of snow. We have names for different kinds of rain. There's the 360 degree rain that you don't bother to take an umbrella for because it's coming at you from all angles anyway. There's the light rain that you totally ignore. Vancouverites generally ignore rain.

And then there's this rain. I call this rain the "Sea to Sky Rain" because it can result in a closure of the Sea to Sky Highway. The Sea to Sky Highway is a narrow ribbon of road that curves along the coast between Vancouver and Whistler. It is the only route to the village. One side of the highway overlooks the Pacific Ocean while the other side is perched on the edge of the Coastal Mountain Range. At the best of times, it's a treacherous highway--many a tired young driver has lost his life crossing over the median while returning from a weekend of skiiing and partying at Whistler.

The rain we have now is coming down in relentless torrents. Small streams that cascade down the mountainside into the ocean are doubtless swollen beyond capacity. Years ago this frequently caused mountainsides, bringing huge chunks of rocks, earth and trees crashing down onto the highway. When that happens, it takes DAYS to clear the debris. In the past few years, the highway has been widened and the streams have been damned and strengthened with cement culverts--but the danger is always there.

John Furlong must be tearing his hair out with fear and trepidation that there will be a mountainslide. But he can't spend too much time worrying about what might be....he has to deal with one heart-pounding reality after another as it is. Yesterday, a band of about 200 dark clothed, balaclava-masked thugs went marching down the mainstreets of Vancouver with hammers, rocks--and a ladder. They smashed store windows up to the third story. They said they were anti-Olympic protestors but the police say otherwise. The Police say they were "not locals". Where were they from? We don't knoooooooooowwwww. In the old days, the media would find that out in a flash. After all, seven WERE arrested. But we still don't know who the thugs were or where they came from but it diverted a lot of attention away from the athletes.

I watched the Olympic round up on CTV last night and, believe it or not, the Olympic sports coverage is fabulous. The short track and long track skating was superb. I tried to assure myself that if we can just focus on the Olympic SPORTS, things will be all right.

Incidentally (or maybe not) the United States is the only large nation that does not have an Olympic Pavilion. Russia has taken over the "Science Ball"--the Iconic Geodisic Dome bordering the Olympic Village at False Creek. That's the top spot. China has a pavilion while other nations opted for beer gardens and other public venus. The United States has opened a small Olympic apparel and souvenir shop on a side street. They have some offices above, but those are not open to the public. The stated reason for this is that the US "does not want to steal Canada's thunder" by having a big pavilion. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

One type of rain we generally don't have in Vancouver are thunderstorms.

Old Crow speaks out about the Olympics

Greencrow is an old crow but not as old as "Old Crow". I ran into her yesterday and she had some amazing things to say. You might not agree with all of them but you will have to admit that she has a different, and some would say cynical, view of recent world events.

Old Crow says that the Olympics currently being held here in Vancouver are jinxed. She says that the fix was in from the beginning. The US neocon government wanted Seoul, Korea to get them and tried to fix the voting. China and Russia blocked them and Canada came up the middle. The US government was mightily pissed off, according to Old Crow. The evil doers (same guys who brought us 9/11) vowed then and there to sabotage the Olympics.

First of all they used their HAARP defense weaponry to alter the usual weather patterns across North America. Vancouver had it's warmest January in recorded history and February has been warm, dreary and rainy. How Good Is That!! say the neoCon gremlins.

Next, they fixed it so that a tragic accident happened just hours before the Opening Ceremony. The young man who died is from Georgia, one of their other client states, and from his last name, is likely a jew. Victimology says that all victims must be jews.

Lastly, so far, they created a momentus embarrassment in the final moments of the otherwise spectacular Opening Ceremony. They caused a malfunction in the mechanical "arm" of the Torch just before it was to be lit. It didn't come up through the floor as planned as the nervous torch lighters stood there, biting their lips....Gufaaaahhhhhhhh what a joke!.

Old Crow thinks that saboteur moles have infiltrated VANOC and will be coming up with one glitch, disaster and malfunction (not to mention ongoing weather havoc) throughout the games. This is what they doooooooooooooooooooooo when non-compliant serfs and peasants do things like have games without their approval.

Old Crow thinks we should just hunker down and "get through the games". There's nothing else we CAN do. The Olympic Fix is in and the Mainstream Media lapdogs will highlight every glitch that happens....overlooking any successes.

Oh Yes, and the evil doers also planned an Afghanistan "surge" to divert whatever attention the media tries to focus on the games. What a farce, says Old Crow. She calls it the "Glitchlympics".

Of course I, greencrow, do not buy a thing of what Old Crow says..... She's crazy, you know.

Tickets to The Eagles

We have tickets to the Eagles next May when they come to Vancouver.

Long time coming, seeing the boys live.

Only wish Meisner and Felder would be there.

Can't have everything. The best part of The Eagles now is Henley.

I hope he's angry.

This guy tells the truth like few others.

I'll put a review on this blog after I see the show.
Hi Guys:

Here I am back in bidness after having had a lapse of about 3 years plus. I Used to rant and rave over at Uplog but I guess that's defunct now because I can't access my blog anymore. Anyway, I forgot the password to update it anyhow.

So I started this Blog in December of 2006 and now re-visit it and it's still here!

The topics I will likely comment on are politics, media, environment, conspiracy theories and mendacity.

Hope to get a few readers here and there.
