Park Bench Café #10 - Shadow Ban Edition

Park Bench Café #10

It's Monday morning and time for the semi-regular feature, Park Bench Café.  This morning's edition is subtitled "Shadow Ban Edition" because this is the latest Internet Buzz term for how the perps, who control the Internet, are minimizing, marginalizing, isolating and harassing truth bloggers.  Below is an illustration how it works on a software called "Instagram" which I've never used...but it's the same technique that is being used on Blogger:

Instagram Shadow Ban

This is how shadow banning works.  Basically, the blogger's posts are relegated to an Internet "closet"...where only those who already have the blogger in their "favourites" can access the post.  Otherwise, the blogger is denied access to the Internet.  This, IMO, is the future [or lack thereof] of blogging on the Internet.  That is why, in my post of yesterday, I was questioning how long I would be "permitted to blog".  The screws are tightening inexorably and "shadow banning" is but the first of a series of strategies to phase out truth on the Internet.  Unless China and Russia get off their duffs and set up another Internet...there will soon be no platform for truth communication.  Only the sheeple will be satisfied with the remnant...for their tweets, their facebook posts and their selfies.

In the meantime, I intend to do my bit to spread information that's an alternative to what is available on ABCFAUXCBSNBCBCNN.  My blogging colleague, Ed(itor) has assembled below an impressive array/smorgasbord of headlines and links to stories that were published during the past two weeks or so.  Some might think that I get a rest by having Ed(itor) provide most of the substance of my post.  Not so.  Editing and, particularly, formatting actually takes up more time than writing a post out of my own noggin' (or from my own is usually the case). So, while I sometimes mutter to Ed:  "Shut Off The Bubble Machine!" as I'm editing the links:

Lawrence Welk - Bubble Machine

The fact is....Editor has a very good nose for the they say.  His links touch upon subjects that I am not up on...such as the inner workings of Washington beltway politics.  While these subjects ARE important...I tend to focus on the much bigger picture geopolitically. As I say...the crow flies high.  Today, the crow is looking down on the grounds around the Washington Capital buildings...  The Lincoln memorial off to one side..the huge phallic obelisk of TheWashington Monument looms in the grey distance...a reflecting water pool before it.  On either side, under the bare wintry trees, are park benches.  One park bench beckons....a newspaper neatly folded at one end....

Without further ado, here is Ed(itor) former blogmaster of "Occurrences". "Boy Down The Lane" and "The Sullen Bell" checking in with his Park Bench Café...submissions as follows:

Watch Ex-Twitter Employees Brag About 'Shadow Banning' Political Opinions They Don't Like --'One strategy is to shadow ban so you have ultimate control,' a former employee says in the Project Veritas video. | 11 Jan 2018 | Newly released undercover video footage from Project Veritas shows current and former Twitter employees bragging about their ability to censor people on the platform whose political opinions they don't like [i.e., @legitgov]. "One strategy is to shadow ban so you have ultimate control," a former Twitter software engineer, Abhinov Vadrevu, says in the video. "The idea of a shadow ban is that you ban someone but they don’t know they’ve been banned, because they keep posting and no one sees their content. So they just think that no one is engaging with their content, when in reality, no one is seeing it."
There was a fellow from San Francisco I met decades ago (his name was Stewart Emery) who taught me about the game being played by many today called “How I Pretend Not to Know What is Widely Known and Accepted”.

I had an e-mail exchange with an Internet personality about watermarks for photos in which he/she suggested I get the novel “Pattern Recognition” ( ) by William Gibson ( It’s about the parallel universes of marketing, globalization and terror, and its protagonist describes 9/11 as a “vast and deeply personal insult to any ordinary notion of interiority, an experience outside of culture”. The protagonist’s father, a CIA officer who died that day, described paranoia as “fundamentally egocentric”, something to be relied on professionally so long as it was not allowed to spread, “something to be cultivated” and “checked daily for the news it might bring : lateralisms, hunches, frank anomalies”.

With all the virtue signalling at the Golden Globes, they hilariously gave a major award to the notorious James Franco, and, even more spectacularly, honored Kirk Douglas!!! It would have been less offensive to honor Weinstein, who may be a terrible rapist, but at least, as far as we know, hasn't actually murdered any of his victims. The people who run 'Hollywood' just sent an unambiguous message that no amount of slogans, pins, and black dresses is going to change the fact that the power over careers still rests with the same small group who are going to continue to humiliate, rape and, yes, murder, with impunity.

After fighting the longest war in its history, the US stands at the brink of defeat in Afghanistan. How could this be possible? How could the world’s sole superpower have battled continuously for more than 16 years – deploying more than 100,000 troops at the conflict’s peak, sacrificing the lives of nearly 2,300 soldiers, spending more than $1tn (£740bn) on its military operations, lavishing a record $100bn more on “nation-building”, helping fund and train an army of 350,000 Afghan allies – and still not be able to pacify one of the world’s most impoverished nations? So dismal is the prospect of stability in Afghanistan that, in 2016, the Obama White House cancelled a planned withdrawal of its forces, ordering more than 8,000 troops to remain in the country indefinitely.

In the American failure lies a paradox: Washington’s massive military juggernaut has been stopped in its steel tracks by a small pink flower – the opium poppy. Throughout its three decades in Afghanistan, Washington’s military operations have succeeded only when they fit reasonably comfortably into central Asia’s illicit traffic in opium – and suffered when they failed to complement it.

The core narrative of the Status Quo is that nothing fundamental needs to be changed: all the problems can be solved with more "free money" (borrowed from the future at low rates of interest) and a few policy tweaks such as Universal Basic Income (UBI) (the topic of my new book Money and Work Unchained).

This core narrative is false: everything needs to change, from the bottom up. And that of course terrifies those gorging at the trough of status quo wealth and power.

The power structure can manipulate financial metrics, but it can't manipulate rising wealth/power inequality or social discord. Whatever you think of President Trump, his election is a symptom of profound social discord--discord which author Peter Turchin explains is cyclical and cannot be squashed with phony reforms like UBI or police-state repression.

The nation is fragmenting because the Status Quo is failing the majority of the citizenry. The protected few are reaping all the benefits of the Status Quo, at the expense of the unprotected many.

As I have outlined many times, this unsustainable asymmetry is the only possible outcome of our socio-economic system, which is dominated by these forces:

1. Globalization--free flow of capital, labor arbitrage (workers must compete with the lowest-cost labor around the world).

2. Nearly free money from central banks for bankers, financiers and corporations.

3. Pay-to-play "democracy"-- wealth casts the only votes that count.

4. State protected cartels that privatize gains and socialize losses.

5. A political system stripped of self-correcting feedback and accountability.

The FBI Hand Behind Russia-gate

We suddenly have documentary proof that key elements of the U.S. intelligence community were trying to short-circuit the U.S. democratic process. And that puts in a new and dark context the year-long promotion of Russia-gate. It now appears that it was not the Russians trying to rig the outcome of the U.S. election, but leading officials of the U.S. intelligence community, shadowy characters sometimes called the Deep State.

One of the reasons why Putin is so successful is that he uniquely always manages to keep emotions out of the calculations.

It's a psychological attack that can completely destroy a persons life, while leaving little or no evidence to incriminate the perpetrators."

The New York Federal Reserve announced that it actually increased their $4.2 trillion balance sheet by $1 million rather than shrinking it. This comes on the heels of The Federal Reserve announcing that it provided $80.2 billion in payments to the US Treasury in 2017. Which brings us to excess reserves. Excess reserves—cash funds held by banks over and above the Federal Reserve’s requirements—have grown dramatically since the financial crisis.

When the entire episode about the creation of the Trump dossier (by former Brit spy, Christopher Steele) and its dissemination (by Steele and the Democrat hired contractor, FUSION GPS,) to the FBI and the press, is fully exposed, the American people will be confronted with the stark dilemma of how to deal with the fact that there was a failed domestic coup attempted by members of the U.S. intel and law enforcement community. The facts will show that the Director of National Intelligence, the Director of the CIA and the FBI conspired and meddled in the 2016 Presidential election. They lied to a Federal judge about the origins of the dossier and used those lies to get permission to spy on Trump and members of his campaign staff.

Here are the facts as we know them now. (Please note, these facts are sourced and are not my opinion).

1 Perkins Come was retained by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the DNC in April 2016.

2 Fusion GPS approached Perkins Coie (a Seattle based law firm) and sought an engagement to continue research it had started on Donald Trump. (

3 The Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee funded the research that resulted in a now-famous dossier containing allegations about President Trump’s connections to Russia and possible coordination between his campaign and the Kremlin. (,

4 Christopher Steele (Orbis Business Intelligence Ltd) was hired by Fusion GPS in May or June of 2016 (Glen Simpson testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee 0n 22 August 2017, p. 77)

5 The first report of the Dossier was dated 20 June 2017 and made the following allegations:

a Russian regime had been cultivating, supporting and assisting TRUMP for at least 5 years.

b TRUMP declined various business deals offered him in Russia but accepted a regular flow of intelligence from the Kremlin, including on his Democratic and other political rivals.

c Russian intelligence officer claims FSB has material to blackmail TRUMP.

d The Russians had a dossier on Clinton but "nothing embarrassing."

6 Christopher Steele tells Glen Simpson that he wants to take the info in the 20 June report to the FBI (this conversation occurred late June/early July according to Glen Simpson testimony before Senate Judiciary Committee, p. 161, 165

7 July 2016, Christopher Steele meets with FBI (name of contact unknown) and passes on content from the 20 June memo.

8 Third report, dated 19 July 2016, claims that TRUMP advisor Carter PAGE held secret meetings in Moscow with SECHIN and senior Kremlin Internal Affairs official, DIVYEKIN. (See dossier).

a But U.S. officials have since received intelligence reports that during that same three-day trip, Page met with Igor Sechin, a longtime Putin associate and former Russian deputy prime minister who is now the executive chairman of Rosneft, Russian’s leading oil company, a well-placed Western intelligence source tells Yahoo News.

9 15 August 2016 FBI Agent Strzok’s text about the meeting in McCabe’s office is dated August 15, 2016. . . According to Agent Strzok, with Election Day less than three months away, Page, the bureau lawyer, weighed in on Trump’s bid: “There’s no way he gets elected.”

10 According to David Corn, Christopher Steele was sending all of his subsequent reports to the FBI:

a The response to the information from the FBI, he recalled, was “shock and horror.” After a few weeks, the bureau asked him for information on his sources and their reliability and on how he had obtained his reports. He was also asked to continue to send copies of his subsequent reports to the bureau. These reports were not written, he noted, as finished work products; they were updates on what he was learning from his various sources.

11 27 August 2016. Senate and House leaders briefed by "intelligence community" on the contents of the Steele memos--A letter from Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, dated 27 August 2017 states:

a "I have recently become concerned that the threat of the Russian government tampering in our presidential election is more extensive than widely known and may include the intent to falsify official election results. The evidence of a direct connection between the Russian government and Donald Trump's presidential campaign continues to mount. . ."

b Michael Isikoff referenced those briefings: "The activities of Trump adviser Carter Page, who has extensive business interests in Russia, have been discussed with senior members of Congress during recent briefings about suspected efforts by Moscow to influence the presidential election, the sources said. After one of those briefings, Senate minority leader Harry Reid wrote FBI Director James Comey, citing reports of meetings between a Trump adviser (a reference to Page) and “high ranking sanctioned individuals” in Moscow over the summer as evidence of “significant and disturbing ties” between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin that needed to be investigated by the bureau."

12 September 2016. FBI used the Steele memos as part of the basis for requesting a FISA warrant according to reports by the NY Times and the Washington Post:

a We do not know exactly when the FISA warrant was granted, but the New York Times and the Washington Post have reported, citing U.S. government sources, that this occurred in September 2016 (see here, here, and here).

b i After Mr. Page, 45 — a Navy veteran and businessman who had lived in Moscow for three years — stepped down (26 September 2016) from the Trump campaign in September, the F.B.I. obtained a warrant from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court allowing the authorities to monitor his communications on the suspicion that he was a Russian agent.

ii The Justice Department obtained a secret court-approved wiretap last summer on Carter Page, a foreign policy adviser to Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign, based on evidence that he was operating as a Russian agent, a government official said Wednesday. The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court issued the warrant, the official said, after investigators determined that Mr. Page was no longer part of the Trump campaign, which began distancing itself from him in early August.

iii The FBI and the Justice Department obtained the warrant targeting Carter Page’s communications after convincing a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court judge that there was probable cause to believe Page was acting as an agent of a foreign power, in this case Russia, according to the officials.

iv Loretta Lynch, Attorney General under President Obama, approved the FISA application. (Note--federal law requires that the attorney general approve every application to the FISA court.)

13 End of September--Steele revealed in a London court filing earlier this year that he was directed by Fusion GPS to brief reporters at outlets like The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, Yahoo! News and Mother Jones about his Trump findings.

14 End of September--Steele informs Simpson (i.e. Fusion GPS) that the FBI wants to meet him in Rome. (Senate Judiciary Committee 0n 22 August 2017, p. 171)

15 8 November 2016, Senator John McCain, accompanied by David Kramer (a Senior Director at Senator McCain's Institute for International Leadership), met in London with an Associate of Orbis, former British Ambassador Sir Andrew Wood, to arrange a subsequent meeting with Christopher Steele in order to read the now infamous Steele Dossier.

16 David Kramer and Christopher Steele met in Surrey on 28 November 2016, where Kramer was briefed on the contents of the memos.

17 Once Senator McCain and David Kramer returned to the United States, arrangements were made for Fusion GPS to provide Senator McCain hard copies of the memoranda.

18 13 December 2016, Christopher Steele prepares, on his own, the 17th report in the dossier and sends it to Senator McCain via David Kramer.

19 6 January 2017--FBI Director Comey briefs Trump on the Steele dossier, which Comey describes as "salacious and UNVERIFIED.":

a The IC leadership thought it important, for a variety of reasons, to alert the incoming President to the existence of this material, even though it was salacious and unverified. Among those reasons were: (1) we knew the media was about to publicly report the material and we believed the IC should not keep knowledge of the material and its imminent release from the President-Elect; and (2) to the extent there was some effort to compromise an incoming President, we could blunt any such effort with a defensive briefing. (Comey's statement before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, 8 June 2017)

One of the more interesting developments in the dossier case came as a result of depositions and testimony in the defamation case that Aleksej Gubarev filed against Christoper Steele in the United Kingdom last year. When pressed to defend the authenticity and accuracy of the dossier and the allegations against President Trump, Christopher Steele became a British version of Michael Jackson and moon-walked backwards. Andy McCarthy describes the situation beautifully:

Describing his reports in the Mother Jones interview, Steele asserted, “This was something of huge significance, way above party politics.” Things changed, though, when Steele was sued for libel after the dossier was published in early 2017. Suddenly, when he was in a forum where it was clear to him that making exaggerated or false claims could cost him dearly, he decided his allegations were not of such “huge significance” after all . . . .According to Steele’s courtroom version, the dossier is merely a compilation of bits of “raw intelligence” that were “unverified” and that he passed along because they “warranted further investigation” — i.e., not because he could vouch for their truthfulness. (kudos to Rowan Scarborough who initially broke the story).

There are some very interesting unanswered questions. Here are some that I believe are most relevant:

1 Why does a former MI-6 officer reach out on his own to the FBI when the normal point of contact would be the CIA?

2 Who did Steele contact at the FBI?

3 Who at the FBI asked Steele to travel to Rome in October 2016? [Note--this request is quite odd given the fact that the FBI has a very large presence in London and, if the purpose was simply to inform the FBI about possible nefarious Russian activity, could have easily walked over to the US Embassy at Grosvenor Square rather than travel to Rome.]

The failure of the FBI and the CIA to disclose to members of Congress and the President that the information they briefed from the dossier had been paid for by the Clinton campaign is much more than gross negligence and incompetence. It is prima facie evidence of collusion and meddling in a U.S. domestic election. Only the culprits weren't the Russians. As Pogo once said, "we have met the enemy and he is us."

1) Newer and perhaps more accurate data says that the time delay in the Hawai'ian alert event was 38 minutes, which is time enough to dig a bomb shelter and about the same time one outlet suggests it would take on of those NORK missiles to reach Hawai'i (which suggests to me this was a Deep STate Tavistockian event);

2) I appreciate Greencrow's kind words and use of her space; a new edition is about to go to press, but the news never stops and sometimes we humans have to do to do other things or recover our wits and sanity;

3) Some progress is being made (albeit slowly) on finding another blog host and attaching a Patreon tool for funding;

4) I will also use the Patreon tool to help with my re-captured intent to do top-class landscape, travel, street and other photography; I just bought a new tripod and have spent a good deal of time watching top-class instructional videos;

5) the book I was writing has been temporarily tabled; it was triggering me to go to places I'd rather not go to. I might use Patreon to purchase transcription assistants to make the task move more quickly.

Thanks, GC!

Hi Ed:

Thanks for all your comments and links! I know how "going places you'd rather not go to" affects the equilibrium...that's an occupational hazard for bloggers. PTSD might be a bit too strong a word (or acronym) but not by much.

Re what happened in Hawaii. As soon as I heard about it I knew it was a "fake news" or false flag-style event. There has been a lull in those in the new year...things to keep the M$M presstitutes busy and away from real journalism. THAT's BTW, how I know whether an event is a concoction or the way the main$tream media obsesses about it.

In the case of the Hawaii event, IMO it likely falls into the "drill" category. Of course...when "drills" go "live" we have "false flags". Thereyouhaveit.

PTSD is not too strong a word. 9/11 brought me high blood pressure (previous condition, exacerbated) which generated a faulty aortic valve which gave me cardiomyopathy and moderate-to-severe aortic stenosis which required open heart surgery, the risk of which included stroke, which occurred to me when they re-opened my chest because they botched the first incidental bypass, which put me in a four-day coma from which I emerged slowly into an 8-week rehabilitation with attendant atrial fibrillation which gave me an implanted pacemaker/defibrillator (which they also botched) and then, years later, atrial ablation which resulted in polymyalgia rheumatica. That was a decade ago. I can quite literally say that I have the scars from having been a truther. I got up off the floor (literally) and out of the bed with the expressed (and realized) intent of blogging and publishing my e-book on performance psychology, walking my daughter down the aisle, and attending the seventh birthday of her firstborn. He is nine now.

The triggers from the book get me only to question things about that span of life I literally cannot remember because my little young brain wasn't advanced enough to have developed memory skills.

Blessings to all truth bloggers.
